Initiative sponsored by Seagems promotes writing, culture, and citizenship among public school students
The Elementary School Literary Award returns for its second edition in Rio das Ostras and announces the young authors selected for the 2025 collective book. The publication, to be launched at the award ceremony scheduled for October, will feature the texts chosen by the judging committee and written by students from Municipal Schools. The initiative is sponsored by Seagems through the “Seagems do Bem” committee, which develops social actions focused on culture, education, and the environment.
With the theme “The love that cares. Love that never fades!”, the award engaged 405 students from 16 municipal schools in Rio das Ostras (RJ) throughout the school year. This is the second time the initiative takes place in the municipality, with exclusive participation of public school students. A total of 179 texts were produced, with the guidance of 23 teachers. At the end of the process, the evaluation committee selected 46 texts, written by 98 students, to be included in the book. The proposed theme encouraged discussions on affection, care, and memory, inspiring students to reflect on human values and their importance in building a more compassionate society.
For Seagems, supporting the award is a way to invest in the social and cultural development of the region. “Valuing and fostering initiatives that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and citizenship through education and culture is essential in the pursuit of a fairer and more equal society. Having Seagems as a supporter of projects like the Elementary School Literary Award is a source of pride for all of us. Each edition brings an important reflection and helps expand the dialogue among young people about topics that shape our society. Seeing such positive results reinforces our conviction in having Seagems actively engaged in initiatives focused on education, culture, and the environment,” says Flora Bastos, spokesperson for Seagems do Bem.
The book featuring the selected texts will be distributed to participating schools and authors, serving as both a symbolic record of the award and an incentive for future literary creations. The award ceremony will also bring together students, families, teachers, school administrators, and community representatives to celebrate the creativity and expression of Rio das Ostras’ young writers.
