Seagems Excellence Academy expands infrastructure with the arrival of the ROV simulator at the Training Center in Rio das Ostras and reinforces its strategic role in developing a specialized workforce for the offshore sector.
Seagems begins 2026 with an important milestone in its people development strategy, the 11th anniversary of the Seagems Excellence Academy (SEA), celebrated on January 15. The company’s in-house professional training program has dedicated more than a decade to technical training, accumulating one million hours of training and receiving over US$ 25 million in investments, becoming an important asset in qualifying the workforce in Brazil’s offshore sector.
To mark the anniversary, the company has just expanded the infrastructure of its Training Center in Rio das Ostras, which is now complete after receiving the ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) Operations simulator. The new addition increases the level of realism in training and strengthens the connection between technical qualification, operational safety, and field performance.
Since its creation in January 2015, SEA has centralized all of the company’s training, technical development, and professional education initiatives. Today, the program includes more than 40 original technical training courses, with both in-person and virtual learning paths designed for employees and contractors, keeping pace with the evolution of operations and the demands of the offshore sector.
The numbers reflect the direct impact of the initiative on professional development. Today, 45% of Seagems’ offshore employees had never worked offshore before joining the company, highlighting the academy’s role as a gateway for new talent and as a structured instrument for technical development.
Proprietary training model and career impact
Throughout its trajectory, Seagems has developed its own training model, featuring exclusive learning materials, continuous content updates, and strong integration between theory and practice. By the end of 2025, the program had been instrumental in enabling more than 2,900 promotions and job level changes within the company, directly associated with internal training processes, demonstrating the academy’s role in career development and talent retention.
In 2024 alone, more than 80,000 hours of training were delivered, equivalent to 10,080 uninterrupted days of training. In 2025, this volume increased to 94,000 hours, following the expansion of operations and the strengthening of the technical learning paths offered.
“The company, committed to improving and developing people, built the training center at the Rio das Ostras base to enhance and support the local economy, the local community, and our employees in their professional development and daily work,” explains Aurélio Ponec, Training and Development Coordinator at Seagems.
Located in the Special Business Zone of Rio das Ostras (RJ), the SEA Training Center also features a flexible pipeline launching simulator and equipment custom-built to accurately replicate the company’s operational environment and the real working conditions on board.
Next steps for SEA
In addition to internal training, Seagems is also expanding its social impact through the Seagems Educational Program (PES), which since 2024 has opened the Training Center to the community. The initiative has already provided more than 160 hours of training to students from the state public school system and grew 43% in the number of participants in its second edition. The program is already confirmed to continue in 2026.
For the coming years, the outlook for the Seagems Excellence Academy (SEA) is to further expand the reach of internal training, deepen both technical and behavioral content, strengthen leadership development, and maintain the program as a strategic pillar for safety, operational excellence, and business sustainability.
