Program has already led to 13 hires and enters its third year with an increased number of classes
Seagems launched the third edition of its Educational Program on July 13. The initiative is aimed at providing professional development opportunities for public school students in Rio das Ostras. This year, 64 students are participating, the highest number since the project was created in 2024, representing a 28% increase compared to the previous edition.
Held during the school vacation period, the program combines 64 hours of in-person activities with 103 hours of distance learning, offering students an immersion into the subsea engineering industry and various areas of the company. Activities will continue through July 24 and are being conducted at the Seagems training center in Rio das Ostras.
For this edition, 135 students from Colégio Cinamomo and CIEP 257 took part in the selection process. Among the applicants, 84 were girls and 51 were boys, reflecting stronger female participation in the initiative.
Since its creation, the Seagems Educational Program has steadily expanded its reach. The first edition welcomed a class of 35 students, and this year the program has grown to include three simultaneous classes.
„The growth of the program demonstrates students’ interest and reinforces our commitment to bringing young people closer to an industry that plays a strategic role in the local economy. More than presenting career possibilities, we want to contribute by providing access to knowledge, practical experiences, and new professional perspectives,“ says Glaucia Maciel, Seagems Human Resources Director and the program’s sponsor.
In addition to training, the program has already delivered tangible results in helping young people enter the job market. A total of 13 participants from the first edition were hired by the company as apprentices. One of them is Yago Trindade, who joined Seagems in 2025 and, just a few months later, was promoted to Materials Planning Assistant.
„My curiosity about the offshore industry and my desire to better understand which career path to follow were the main reasons I joined the program. It showed me, in practice, how the knowledge we learn at school is applied in a company’s day-to-day operations,“ he says.
Currently studying Computer Science, Yago highlights that he continues to apply the knowledge gained during the program in his work.
„I want to keep studying and develop solutions that help make operations more efficient. This journey began with the Educational Program and continues to be an important part of my career.“
During the in-person activities, students will have access to the company’s training facilities, including learning materials, equipment for practical activities, personalized kits, meals, and transportation for lunch.
