Seagems Expands Educational Program and Graduates 50 Public School Students in Rio das Ostras (RJ) in offshore industry areas

Initiative combines technical training and employability for high school students, aligned with the demands of a key economic sector in the region

Seagems has just concluded the second edition of its Educational Program aimed at training students from public schools. This year, the initiative expanded its reach to include two classes with a total of 50 students, representing a 43% increase compared to the first edition held in 2024.

The program, which is free of charge and developed in partnership with the Municipal Department of Education, offers technical training focused on the demands of the oil and gas sector — one of the main drivers of employment in the region. Students follow a learning journey consisting of 103 hours of online content and 64 in-person hours, combining theoretical and practical lessons in hydraulics, electrical systems, mechanics, and ROV (remotely operated vehicle) operation. Part of the training takes place at the company’s own training facility, in the SEA (Seagems Excellence Academy) training Center.

In 2025, 147 students registered to participate in the selection process. After a qualifying exam, the top 50 performers were selected to join the two classes.

“With this program, we create opportunities for students from public schools in Rio das Ostras (RJ) to learn about the job market, experience corporate life, gain broad basic knowledge from our specialists, and get a glimpse of the future that lies ahead — their first job! By the way, 12 students from last year’s program are now working with us as Young Apprentices. We are truly happy and honored to once again open our facilities and our hearts to help these young people take their very first professional step,” says Glaucia Maciel, Seagems’ Human Resources Director and leader of the initiative.

First edition already delivers real results in the job market

In 2024, the first edition of the Seagems Educational Program had already shown impressive results. At the end of the cycle, the top-performing students were included in the company’s talent pool, and earlier this year, 12 of them were hired as young apprentices, underscoring the initiative’s role as a real gateway to the oil and gas job market.

One of these success stories is Letícia Silva, who now works in Seagems’ administrative department. She highlights that the program experience was decisive for her future choices: “It’s a unique opportunity for all of us who participated to get to know the business environment, both onshore and offshore,” she says.

During the course, Letícia had contact with different areas of the company, which broadened her perspective on the sector and career possibilities. “This experience helped me a lot because I got to understand the many areas of the company and had very meaningful exchanges with professionals. It made it clearer for me what I’d like to pursue,” she adds.

She now plans to continue studying and already has a new academic goal: “I plan to enroll in an International Relations program, an area I got to know better through the course and that really expanded my horizons,” she explains.

Next editions

Based on the positive results of the first two editions and the strong interest shown by students, Seagems is considering expanding the educational program to other locations in the coming years. The goal is to support the development of young people about to graduate high school who often have limited access to technical training opportunities.

“The Seagems Educational Program is more than technical training — it’s truly a project that transforms lives. Our hope is that by the end of the course, these young people feel more confident about their future, with greater self-esteem and motivation to grow. Seeing their excitement at graduation truly warms our hearts! This close contact with such an important local industry is essential to spark new interests and prepare more aware professionals for the challenges ahead,” concludes Glaucia.
