Seagems renews lifecycle agreement with Wärtsilä to strengthen fleet reliability and sustainability

Partnership includes digital solutions and predictive maintenance tools to reduce operating costs and enhance performance

Seagems, a Brazilian company specializing in subsea engineering solutions, and the technology group Wärtsilä have renewed and expanded their Lifecycle Agreement to cover the entire fleet of offshore support vessels. The new agreement broadens the scope and elevates the level of strategic partnership between the companies, aiming to increase vessel reliability and reduce their carbon footprint. The order was recorded by Wärtsilä in the third quarter of 2025.

The partnership reflects a global trend in the maritime sector: long-term relationships based on results and sustainability. The agreement also demonstrates how Seagems has been investing in digital solutions, predictive maintenance, and technological partnerships to continuously improve fleet performance and reduce operating costs.

“Over the years, Wärtsilä has delivered high quality, value-adding services to our offshore support vessels. The renewal and expansion of the existing agreement will support our long-term operational goals for these vessels, particularly in enhancing efficiency, reliability and sustainabilit,” says Ricardo Bicudo, COO of Seagems.

With the expanded scope of the Lifecycle Agreement, Seagems will benefit directly from improved reliability, operational savings, and greater peace of mind for its fleet. One of the additions is Wärtsilä’s updated energy management and control software, the Data Collection Unit, which includes cloud services and remote monitoring. This will provide full visibility into vessel performance and enable proactive maintenance management.

Additionally, with Expert Insight — a predictive maintenance solution based on real-time data — potential issues can be identified before they impact operations, minimizing unplanned downtime and unexpected repairs. Under the agreement’s scope, Seagems will also benefit from customized field services for engines and propulsion systems, ensuring its vessels operate continuously, safely, and sustainably throughout their lifecycle.

“This renewed contract further strengthens our long-standing partnership with Seagems, reflecting confidence in our shared commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth in the marine sector. Our goal is always to achieve greater operational efficiency, reduced downtime, and enhanced predictability, while also supporting our customers on their journey towards decarbonisation,” says Henrik Wilhelms, Director of Contract Sales at Wärtsilä Marine.

Seagems’ fleet specializes in operations such as platform support, supply transport, and subsea services. The vessels, known for their robust design and advanced capabilities, operate safely and efficiently in challenging offshore environments and feature modern systems that enhance operational reliability.
