Seagems Signs UN Global Compact in Brazil and Strengthens Commitment to ESG Practices

Ten Global Principles of the Initiative Now Integrate Company’s Culture and Operations Strategies

Seagems, a Brazilian company specializing in underwater engineering solutions, announces its official commitment to the UN Global Compact in Brazil, an initiative that mobilizes the business community to adopt and promote Ten universally accepted Principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.

With this commitment, Seagems reaffirms its dedication to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives, aligning itself with global best practices in sustainability and corporate social responsibility. “We are very pleased with this achievement and are committed to making the Ten Principles a part of our company’s strategy, culture, and daily operations, as well as engaging in cooperative projects that advance the broader UN development goals, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals,” says Rogerio Salbego, CEO of the company.

By joining the Global Compact, Seagems also commits to annually reporting progress on the proposed topics, encouraging the continuous evolution of its internal sustainability practices. The company aims not only to comply with regulations but also to inspire and positively influence the industry and the entire value chain with which it interacts.

Seagems do Bem

To address social and environmental issues, Seagems has an internal initiative named Seagems do Bem, a permanent corporate governance body. The group consists of voluntary and engaged employees who dedicate part of their time to developing internal awareness and donation campaigns, as well as monitoring incentive law projects supported by the company. The idea arose from the company’s constant challenge to foster internal and external stimulus for social transformation, guided by impartiality and transparency in management.

Seagems was also the first Brazilian company in the oil and gas sector to receive the Green Treasury Sustainability seal, a BMV Group solution that certifies adherence to ESG practices. With this certification, the company offset the environmental footprint of its offices in Rio de Janeiro, Duque de Caxias, and Rio das Ostras, and became NET-Positive — a new business approach that gives back more to society, the environment, and the global economy than it takes.

Efficient Waste Management

The company also maintains a rigorous system for waste collection, management, and disposal, meeting the requirements of the Waste Management Program (PGRS) and the Health Service Waste Management Program (PGRSS), in accordance with current legislation.

UN Global Compact

The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with over 15,000 companies and 3,800 non-business signatories in more than 160 countries. The Global Compact encourages companies to align their operations and strategies with the Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, and to take strategic actions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By joining the Global Compact, companies commit to promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainability in all their activities, contributing to a more just and sustainable future.
