Seagems sponsors the Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues 2024, its 20th edition.

The Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues is the largest of its kind in Latin America and ranks in the top 10 globally. For the fifth consecutive time, Seagems makes the free event possible.

From May 30th to June 2nd, the audience can enjoy great encounters, revisit memorable shows, and indulge in the iconic edition of Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues. The 20th edition of the festival will feature performances by the most esteemed jazz, blues, and national and international instrumental music artists, with over 30 free shows across five stages located in the city’s main points: Praça São Pedro (starting at 11:15 am), Lagoa de Iriry (2:30 pm), Boca da Barra (5:15 pm), Costazul (8:00 pm), and Espaço Arthur Maia (8:30 pm).

The event, internationally recognized as one of the most relevant in the world in its genre, is once again sponsored by Seagems, which has been investing in various initiatives in the city since establishing itself in Rio das Ostras in 2020. This marks the fifth consecutive time that Seagems has made the festival possible.

Among the international attractions in 2024 are award-winning and acclaimed names in the genre such as the American jazz fusion group Spyro Gyra, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year; Cameroonian bassist Richard Bona; American saxophonist James Carter; Polish bassist Kinga Glyk; American guitarists Kenny Brown and Tommy Castro; Australian pianist and singer Lachy Doley – who will perform with his trio for the first time in Brazil; and musicians Romero Lubambo, Rodney Holmes, Otmaro Ruiz, and Mohini Dey, artists who together have won more than a dozen Grammys and will perform together on the stage of Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues for a unique show.

In the national lineup, other major highlights of the genre include the Afrojazz band; the show Cássia Eller and Victor Biglione In Blues (featuring the live recording of the CD at Circo Voador); Armandinho Macêdo and Chico Chagas Quartet; bassist Celso Pixinga and Nasi, the vocalist of the IRA group, who invites the biggest blues band in Brazil, Blues Etílicos.

The complete festival schedule can be found on the Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues social media. All performance times have been planned so that the audience can attend shows at each stage.

Arthur Maia Space – space for new artists and sounds.

The audience can also enjoy a parallel program at the Arthur Maia Space (formerly Casa do Jazz), featuring shows by new bands from cities in the Northern Fluminense and Costa do Sol regions that are making a mark on the music scene. The performances take place during the intervals of the main stage shows. In the Vinyl Club space, enthusiasts and collectors of the famous “records” will have the opportunity to chat, buy, and exchange their records.

In 2024, the Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues celebrates its 20th edition as the festival with the highest number of editions ever held to date, another milestone for the largest jazz & blues festival in Latin America and one of the top 10 in the world. So far, the event has hosted about 600 shows by national and international artists for a total audience of over 1.2 million spectators. Throughout this period, in addition to bringing free and quality culture to residents and visitors to the resort, the Festival has also contributed to boosting tourism in the region, generating income, and attracting new businesses. According to studies by FGV-RJ, SEBRAE, and the Rio das Ostras Tourism Secretariat, over the past seven years, an average of R$9 million has been injected into the local economy for each edition of the event (over its four days).

“It is a great joy to celebrate the arrival of the 20th edition of the Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues, an event that fulfills me as a professional and as a person. Over these years, we have seen the Festival be born, grow, mature, and gain prestige, being courted by great names in jazz and blues who recognize the relevance of the event. Today we are a reference for the audience that loves jazz and blues, which already reserves a space in their calendar every year to honor us,” celebrates Stenio Mattos, director of Azul Produções, the company responsible for producing the festival.

The Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues is an initiative of the Rio das Ostras City Hall in partnership with Sesc RJ, produced by Azul Produções, and supported by Seagems.
